FCC License Exams
Volunteer Examiners of the FCC test candidates that wish to become Licensed Amateur Radio Operators.
Testing takes place the second Thursday of each month at the Lee County EOC Building
at 2665 Ortiz Avenue. Doors open at 6:15pm. Testing starts at 6:30pm. FMARC
is sponsoring this testing for free as a service to our community, using the
Laurel VEC. You need to bring a picture ID. If you are upgrading your license,
please bring the original and a copy of your current license. You do not need
an appointment.
For more information contact Larry Stiles at: Mandatory items for all candidates is a photo ID. License holders must also bring a copy and their original signed Amateur Radio License. Candidates without these items may be turned away. As a service to new licensees ONLY, all VEC's accept Social Security Numbers on form USVE-605. The VEC uses this information to register you in the FCC's CORES database and then enters your license data. But is it absolutely necessary to provide your SSN? No it isn't. You can register yourself with the FCC's CORES database before the test session and receive your FRN number to use instead. This has two advantages:
Technician class (Element 2) Pool is effective July 1, 2010 and is valid until June 30, 2014.
NEW
General class (Element 3) pool is effective
July 1, 2011
and is valid until June 30, 2015.
Extra class (Element 4) pool is effective July 1, 2008 and is valid until June 30, 2012.
