To volunteer contact the following: Edison Special Event Station pictures Stella's message about the 2007 event: Stella J.Gurka WB2FAU, Chairlady for "Special Event" that was held at the Thomas Edison Estate in Fort Myers, the week of Feb. 12 to 16, 2007. It was a very fun week. There were a total of 15 folks that volunteered their time to operate, log, set-up and break-down. We made a total of 1066 contacts around the country and some European countries. It was a great exercise in setting up a portable station in case of an emergency situation. It was also a good exercise in managing, hearing call signs with interference. We made contact with many Middle & High Schools and Universities, since it was School Round-up week and we were able to give them extra points by contacting our Special Event. It was a great way to promote our FMARC Club in Fort Myers. Our Club is known around the country because of this activity. Our tent was set-up at the foot of the Caloosahatchee River. We had a few cool days, but had a lot of fun. We also had many folks stop by inquiring what we were doing. Maybe next year some of you would like to participate in the fun. Thanks again for all those that helped out. 73 & 88 Stella WB2FAU
